Car Catches Fire In Plainfield, But No Injuries: Lockport FD

A truck caught fire in a Plainfield neighborhood early Thursday morning, fire officials said, but no one was injured.

PLAINFIELD, IL — The sight of a burning car caught eyes this morning on the 13600 block of Jersey Court in Plainfield. Worried passerby were beginning to pass news of the incident on social media as early as 6:30 a.m., hoping that no one had been hurt. Luckily, it seems no one was injured in the fire.

"Seems like it was pretty uneventful," Lockport Fire Chief Frank Blaskey said. "There was a pick-up truck on the street... gentleman went out to start it, not sure exactly what transpired from there, but [firefighters] found the vehicle to be fully involved in the street when the engine arrived."

The Lockport Township Fire Protection District has jurisdiction over where the fire took place, despite it being a Plainfield address. Blaskey went on to say that the fire was not suspicious and no foul play is suspected.
