Cruise Nights Scheduled For June Start: Plainfield Chamber

As the coronavirus crisis continues, Plainfield Chamber of Commerce staff said Cruise Nights would hopefully begin some time in June.

PLAINFIELD, IL — As the new coronavirus crisis continues, Cruise Nights are still scheduled to begin sometime in June, staff with the Plainfield Area Chamber of Commerce told Patch on Monday evening. The popular weekly summer gathering of car enthusiasts usually runs June through August, Chamber Executive Director Tasha Marsaglia said, and so far no change has been made to that schedule.

"Cruise Nights are scheduled to start in June through August. So they haven’t been re scheduled at all," Marsaglia told Patch via email.

Marsaglia did not give a specific date for the start of the event, nor did she say what coronavirus precautions - if any - potential attendees would have to take. She said the uncertainty regarding the current stay-at-home order made specifying such details premature.

"Our hope is by June we will not have to have any other [coronavirus] precautions but again we wont be able to answer that until our governor tells us when we can start having events like this," Marsaglia said.

The current stay-at-home order from the governor's office is set to expire April 30, but the possibility exists that the order will be extended. Gov. Pritzker recently said state-wide coronavirus cases are not expected to peak until mid-May. Should the stay-at-home order force the start of Cruise Nights later into the summer, Marsaglia said Chamber staff would announce it.

"Once I have more information we will share, at this time we just have to wait," she said.
