Valley View, 202, Troy Cancel After-School Events Due To Ice

Some area school districts have canceled events due to frigid, icy conditions.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Valley View District 365U, Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 and other nearby districts have canceled all after-school activities Tuesday amid frigid temperatures and treacherous road conditions.

"This includes such activities as athletic practices and contests, club meetings, rehearsals, etc.," the district said in an alert to parents. YMCA Kidzone programs will operate as usual. All canceled activities will be rescheduled ASAP, according to District 202.

Other districts canceling after-school activities include Joliet Grade School District 86, Oswego School District 308, Joliet Township High School District 204, Yorkville School District 115 and Troy Community Consolidated School District 30-C, which said, "(Cancellations include) the Boys Basketball Regional away as well as the home GVB games. This will also include all activity buses being canceled."
