PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield East students are back in class after an emergency lockdown button was set off Friday morning at the campus. Plainfield school district Director of Community Relations Tom Hernandez called the incident a false alarm.

A message sent to parents said the button was set off at 8:55 a.m. and that "Students and staff responded professionally and we can't be more proud of them."

Regular schedule resumed after the false alarm, the district said.
