Joliet Football Cancels Plainfield, Oswego Games Due To COVID-19
Joliet West and Central high schools forfeited games against Plainfield North and Oswego Friday due to COVID-19-related reasons.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Two Joliet high school varsity football teams canceled upcoming games, including against Plainfield North and Oswego, for coronavirus-related reasons.
Both originally planned for Friday, Joliet West High School's varsity game had an away game scheduled against Plainfield North, and Joliet Central High School's varsity team was playing an away game against Oswego High School. The two games were canceled, Patch reported.
Joliet Central's varsity football team is currently in quarantine, school officials said.

The schools' freshman and sophomore football teams will continue their schedule as planned. Joliet Central's sophomore game against Oswego will take place at 5 p.m.

"These cancellations are result of a directive from the Will County Health Department," District 204 announced on its website. "Due to the high transmission rate in the varsity football program, the test to stay protocol cannot be utilized for varsity football participation at this time. Varsity football team members may utilize 'the test to stay in school' protocol for regular school attendance.
Both Friday varsity team games won't be rescheduled, officials announced.
