Target Customer Mentioned Shooting Up Store On Route 59: Shorewood Police Announce Woman's Arrest

SHOREWOOD, IL — A 35-year-old woman was arrested Monday night at the Target store on Route 59 after Shorewood police say sge vowed to "shoot up a store." The arrest happened at 9:01 p.m. and Ronisha Thompson was taken away in handcuffs, charged with resisting a peace officer and obstructing identification.

According to the arrest report from Shorewood's Police Department, the officers were dispatched to Target for an unwanted person. Police said that Thompson made statements she would shoot a gun inside of Target and yelled at the customers.

Officers met with the store’s manager, who said Thompson approached her and asked for face masks. The manager asked if she wanted beauty masks. Thompson said, "No, I’m talking about the face masks you use right before you shoot up a store," her arrest report showed.

Officers approached Thompson in the checkout line and advised her that Target wanted her trespassed. Officers told her she needed to leave after she paid for her items, and they asked if she had an Illinois ID, to which she said, "No," according to police.

Police said she gave a fictitious name when asked for her name. At that point, Thompson walked to the Starbucks counter to avoid the officers. The officers asked for her name again, which she refused to provide. Officers commanded Thompson to place her hands behind her back. Thompson said, “No, I didn’t do anything wrong” and walked away, the police report alleges.

Thompson was given a citation with information on her Will County Courthouse appearance, the arrest report indicated. The Shorewood Police Department arrest log for Thompson's address was left blank.
