Online Mass For First Responders, Healthcare Workers: St. Mary's

St. Mary Immaculate plans to live stream a "White Mass" for healthcare workers and a "Blue Mass" for first responders amid coronavirus.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Staff with St. Mary Immaculate Parish recently told Patch that the church plans to livestream two Masses in honor of healthcare workers and first responders. These have been dubbed the "White Mass" and the "Blue Mass," respectively.

"[These Masses] will show appreciation for these professions which is well needed," Parish Development Director Pam Angelus told Patch via email.

The White Mass for healthcare workers is scheduled for Thursday, April 30 at 7 p.m. The Blue Mass is a week and a half later; Tuesday, May 12 at 7 p.m. Both will be available for the public to watch on St. Mary's Facebook page. Pastor Pat Mulcahy will preside over both services.

As the coronavirus crisis continues, all Diocese of Joliet parishes have still suspended most services, including normal Mass. As such, the White Mass and Blue Mass will be strictly virtual, and no physical congregation will take place.
