Hundreds of pumpkins will be available throughout this weekend. Each pumpkin will come with a $5 coupon that can be used at the store.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Visiting pumpkin farms is a major fall attraction, but with the pandemic, many have not been able to do it. To ensure even they have something to cherish, Peter Rubi, a popular Plainfield grocery store, is giving away free mini pumpkins this weekend.
"We know that many families in the area are busy with e-learning and unable to go to a pumpkin patch this year. We wanted to ensure that everyone got to enjoy fall this year," said Katherine Witcpalek, marketing manager. "We hope the free mini pumpkins bring joy."
The pumpkins will also come with a $5 coupon per family that can be used for any purchase of $35 or more.

"Many of our community members know us for our fantastic produce, but many do not know that we also carry healthy pantry staples. We wanted to help people stock up on their local honey, maple syrup, soups, and plant based queso with a discount," she said. "We know it's cold outside - let us help keep you healthy."
The pumpkins will be available while supplies last and the store is aiming to donate hundreds of them. Children are asked to go first to ensure they all receive one. Witcpalek said they will follow all COVID-19 safety procedures and customers can ask for the pumpkins to be brought to their cars with any curbside orders.
