Plainfield D202 Students Bag Top Awards In Short Story Contest

D202 students earned seven of the nine top prizes in the Plainfield Public Library's annual Short Story Contest.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield School District 202 students earned seven of the nine top prizes in the Plainfield Public Library’s annual Short Story Contest.

The Short Story Contest is open to fourth through sixth grade students. Students wrote an original story in 500 to 650 words. The library received 91 entries from D202 and other area schools. Author Pablo Cartaya judged this year’s contest.

Fourth Grade

  • First Place: Hope McSteen - Lincoln Elementary School
  • Second Place: Sabrina Tolrud - Liberty Elementary School

Fifth Grade

  • Second Place: Skylyn Worden – Walker’s Grove Elementary School

Sixth Grade

  • Second Place: Charlotte McManaman - Ira Jones Middle School
  • Third Place: Lyla Luebbing - Drauden Point Middle School
