Plainfield Park District To Host Rocket League Tournament
The Park District, in collaboration with E-Sports platform GGLeagues, will be hosting a virtual Rocket League tournament through May.
PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield Park District announced Monday that it would be hosting a virtual Rocket League tournament throughout the month of May and into June. Rocket League is a video game and e-sport, available on multiple platforms, where teams of players play soccer with race cars. Registration is now open for the month long competition, made possible via collaboration with the E-Sports platform GGLeagues, and will remain open until May 1. The tournament will on June 6, and will feature three divisions for players of different skill levels. All games will be played as 3v3 match-ups.

Plainfield Park District is offering an opportunity for players of all ages to participate in a FREE 3 v 3 e-sports Rocket League competition this spring in partnership with GGLeagues, a recreational e-sports league based in Chicago.

Play starts at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 and will take place at the same time each Saturday through June 6. Playoffs are scheduled for June 6 from 2:00-5:00 p.m.
Rocket League is a video soccer game held in a virtual stadium featuring rocket-powered cars playing in a challenging, fast-paced soccer contest with elements of a demolition derby.
Participants in the Park District league may form a team or register solo for some friendly online competition from home. Four weeks of play will conclude with playoffs in week four.
Gamers will be placed in one of three divisions depending on skill level, regardless of age:
Division A: This is the most competitive level league. Players can be at any skill level.
Division B: This the medium level league. Players must be at the gold or platinum skill level; players higher than platinum are not eligible for this division.
Division C: This level is the most beginner-friendly league. Players must be at gold skill level or below to be eligible.
