Plainfield Saints Cheer, Football Teams See Success At Competitions
All three cheerleading teams placed first at the Pop Warner Regional Competition, and one football team won a state championship title.
PLAINFIELD, IL — Cheerleading squads and football teams at the Plainfield Saints Youth Association are hot off recent wins in their respective competitions.
All three cheer teams — Tiny Mite (5-7-year-olds), Junior Pee Wee (8-11-year-olds) and Junior Varsity (10-13-year-olds) — placed first at the Chicagoland Pop Warner Regional Cheer Competition, which took place at the Northern Illinois Convocation Center in DeKalb Nov. 7.
Following the win, competitive teams Junior Pee Wee and Junior Varisty will advance to the national competition in Orlando, Florida, in December, according to Plainfield Saints President Rob Kulik.

At the state championship game at Addison Trail High School Sunday, the 12U Black team went in undefeated and won the Division 3 finals, while the 10U team advanced to the Division 3 quarterfinals, Kulik said.

"We would like all the kids to know how proud the Saints organization is of them," Kulik told Patch in an email. "Both cheer and football worked tremendously hard to make it this far and we look forward to bringing home a regional and national championship.
"A special thank you to all of the coaches and volunteers who helped make this season a memorable one," he continued.
The organization, founded in 2009, practices and plays its home games at Plainfield Central High School.
"We go beyond just teaching the fundamentals of the game," their website reads, "but also believe it is equally important to teach them the importance that scholastics has in the sport and in their everyday lives."
