Teen Fatally Struck By Train In Plainfield

Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact investigators.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A teenage pedestrian was fatally hit by a train Tuesday night in Plainfield, and police are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact investigators. Police said officers were dispatched to the area of 135th Street east of Route 30 for a person near the tracks with "major injuries."

The Will County Coroner's office said the teen, identified as 17-year-old Skyler J. Williams Jr. of Plainfield, was pronounced dead just before 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Plainfield Fire Chief Jon Stratton said the incident happened around 7:30 p.m.

According to police, 135th Street and 127th Street were closed between Route 30 and Van Dyke Road for roughly three hours Tuesday night.

The coroner's office said an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday. Plainfield police are investigating the incident.
