Volunteer Sought For Plainfield Police Commission
A commissioner, who must reside in Plainfield to qualify, will be appointed by the mayor and serve for two years.
PLAINFIELD, IL — The Village of Plainfield is searching for a volunteer to join its Police Commission for a minimum of two years.
Mayor John Argoudelis will appoint the new Board member to fill a vacant seat with the consent of the Village Board. Commissioners serve until their successors are duly seated and qualified, officials said.
Commission meetings are held at the Plainfield Police Department, 14300 Coil Plus Drive, at 2 p.m. on the third Thursday of January, February, March, April, May, September, October and November. An additional time commitment is needed during the hiring and promotional processes.

The responsibilities of the Commission are:
- To recruit, select and appoint qualified candidates to fill Police Officer vacancies as prescribed by the Village of Plainfield and Police Commissioner Rules and Regulations, State Statutes and Village Ordinances.
- To provide testing and selection procedures to allow qualified employees to participate in the promotional process for the position of Sergeant.
- To conduct disciplinary hearings or appeals of disciplinary action by uniformed personnel in the Police Department.

- Past Police employment experience preferred.
- Must be a current resident of the Village of Plainfield and remain such while serving on the Board.
- Attend and maintain training. Training is held by the Illinois Fire and Police Commissioners Association twice a year.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Final candidates will be fingerprinted and must be able to pass a background check.
Final candidates will be contacted for an interview with the mayor and Police Commission Board.
