PLAINFIELD, IL — As the weather warms up, the organizers of Plainfield Fest have announced some of this year's musical acts for the July 19-21 event in downtown Plainfield. This year, Grammy nominated rapper, producer and actor Tone Loc — known for his late '80s hits "Wild Thing" and "Funky Cold Medina" — be taking the stage.

In an announcement earlier this month, Plainfield Fest organizers said Tone Loc perform at 9 p.m. Saturday, July 20, with fest favorite Maggie Speaks. And you'll want to get there early.

"Please arrive early to guarantee entry, we anticipate a large following," organizers said. Admission after 5 p.m. requires a $10 entry wristband that can be purchased at the entrance to the Rod Baker Ford Entertainment Tent on Des Plaines Street.

Bags tournament benefits animals

This year's Window World/Midwest Bags Tournament beneficiary is Help Save Pets, a Plainfield-based animal rescue.

"A portion of the proceeds from the Bags Tourney will go towards the support of this worthy local organization," organizers aid on Facebook. "They will have a Booth in our Vendor Row the entire weekend, as well will have many animals on display in the Entertainment Tent on Sunday, July 21st. Be sure to pay them a visit."
