Catapult A Pumpkin, Recycle Electronics At Lewis University Event
Catapult a Pumpkin 2024 will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Nov. 2 at the university, 1 University Parkway.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Instead of throwing away your pumpkins or jack-o-lanterns after Halloween, you can head to the eighth annual Will County collection of pumpkins at Lewis University on Nov. 2.
Catapult a Pumpkin 2024 will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the university, 1 University Parkway, and also features electronic recycling and document shredding. Students, parents and residents are encouraged to bring their pumpkins and gourds to the campus.
The Lewis Physics Club will be operating catapults, and the Farm Bureau and University of Illinois Extension office will be offering composting information, according to a release.

Pumpkins can be carved or painted, but should not have candles, bags or boxes. All the pumpkins collected will be taken to be mixed and composted, and will become a nutritious soil supplement, according to a release.
Lewis University volunteered to partner with Will County because Lewis already collects food scraps on their campus and sends them for composting, according to a release.

A drive-thru document destruction service will also be offered, with a limit of three bank boxes per vehicle. Electronics recycling is also offered, with a limit 2 TVs per vehicle.
