RHS JV Spartanettes Take Second in State in Hip Hop Division

The Romeoville High School JV Spartanettes competed in Team Dance Illinois state championships Sunday.

Romeoville High School JV Spartanettes finished second in the Junior Varsity Hip Hop Division II at Sunday’s Team Dance Illinois (TDI) state championships in Peoria.

Their dance theme, “Heartbreakers,” was choreographed by four varsity Spartanettes and was mixed by RHS teacher Adam Hill.

The squad also earned sixth place in the JV Open Pom Division II competition with the dance theme “Beauty and the Beast.”

Squad members include Melissa Alvarado, Karoline Bacewicz, Laura Blum, Hevan Cruz, Alexandra Garcia, Nicole Kula, Kimberly Larsen, Natalia Metelski, Gloria Mileva, Victoria Patino, Amber Richards, Sheyanne Ryan, Ja'Nae Smith, and Breanna Vaira. Senior Choreographers were Cierra Backstrom, Alandra Porter, Alaina Rice and Roni Patino. Kelly Plese is the JV coach. Amanda Carroll coaches varsity.

“I couldn't be more proud of the girls. They have worked so hard for this,” Plese said. “I'm so lucky to have the opportunity to coach such talented and fun girls.”
