Firefighters responded at around 10:42 p.m. to a home in the 1700 block of Sierra Trail, where residents of a two-story duplex called 911 after arriving home to find the house filled with smoke.

Smoke was showing and fire venting from the second story when fire crews arrived. Crews quickly brought the fire under control, but it caused extensive damage to the home, leaving it uninhabitable.

Officials said Lockport was assisted by Romeoville and Plainfield Fire at the scene while Bolingbrook, East Joliet, Homer, Plainfield, and Troy Fire Departments provided station coverage.
