Teen Bit, Pushed Cop Down Stairs; Mom Sprayed Extinguisher: Cops

ROMEOVILLE, IL — A Romeoville teen wanted on traffic charges is accused of shoving an officer down the stairs and biting his fingers, while is mother faces charges of resisting for allegedly discharging a fire extinguisher brandished by an officer. Brayden Dzimidas, 18, of the 600 block of Sherwood Court, faces charges including fleeing and eluding, resisting an officer, DUI, aggravated battery, no valid license, speeding and disobeying a traffic sign.
Police told Suburban Life that officers attempted to stop Brayden's vehicle Feb. 7 after it ran a stop sign. Instead of pulling over, the teen is accused of evading the officer, who later spotted the car — a gold Chevy Impala — in the Dzimidas family's driveway.
When an officer knocked on the door of the home, mother Michelle Dzimidas, 58, answered and claimed her son wasn't home, even though he could be seen through a window. Officers entered, one carrying a fire extinguisher due to fend off a potential attack by the family dog.

Police said Brayden, who appeared to be intoxicated, was locked inside a bathroom and is accused of yelling threats, shoving an officer down the stairs and biting his fingers after police forced their way in. Michelle Dzimidas is accused of grabbing the officer's fire extinguisher and causing it to spray everywhere, even on her own stomach, police told Suburban Life. During the melee, police say the teen tripped over a bed frame and landed on his face.

Brayden was taken to the Will County Adult Detention Center, where he remained as of Monday, March 18, according to jail records. His bond is $75,000, meaning he would need to post 10 percent, or $7,500, to be released. Jail records list charges including fleeing and eluding, speeding, reckless driving, disregarding a stop sign, driving under the influence of a drug, driving under the influence of alcohol, aggravated battery to an officer.
He has a court dates scheduled for March 28, according to jail records.
Michelle Dzimidas is due in court April 8.
