2 Teas Boba Opens: 'I Love This Location, I Love Shorewood'

SHOREWOOD, IL — Friday marked the soft opening for Shorewood's brand new 2 Teas Boba Drink and dozens of customers patronized the new business by 3 p.m. For this weekend's soft opening, 2 Teas Boba Drink is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Starting Monday, 2 Teas Boba will operate its normal business hours of 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week. 2 Teas Boba is directly across the street from the McDonald's restaurant and the Home Depot. The building address is 857 Center Court Unit K.

"The coffee bean is imported from Vietnam, and it's 100 percent organic," explained Vu Tran, whose wife, Kimmie Luong, is owner of 2 Teas Boba Drink, along with her cousin, Jessie Vu.

Vu Tran said he owns the Phoday Vietnamese restaurant on Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg. This marks the family's first boba tea restaurant venture. 2 Teas Boba is not affiliated with any regional or national chains.

When Patch arrived around 2 p.m., there were about a dozen people in line to order.

"I'm tired," Luong told Patch. "It's good, but I'm tired. I did not expect (everyone) to be loving it like this. It's a soft opening. We posted on Facebook and people knew to be here right at 11 a.m."

2 Teas Boba specializes in: fruit smoothies, fruit teas, Yakult drinks, Ombre Latte, milk teas and hot drinks.

On Friday, the two most popular menu items were the Butterfly Brown Sugar Milk and the Ube Twister Milk Tea.

The owner of 2 Teas Boba asked customers to be patient with her and her staff as they get acclimated to their new store. She has 14 employees.

"Bear with me, I'm new," Luong said. "It is Asian tradition type of drink, but it's my first business in this type of field and my employees are new."

Two Teas Boba is a walk-in tea and coffee place. There is no drive-thru.

"I love this location and I love Shorewood," Luong told Patch. "It's a place for young adults to hang out in summer and for teenagers to get a job in the summer. It's not a stressful job."
