58 MPH Over Posted Speed Limit: Shorewood Officer's Radar Gun Nabs Toyota Supra Driver

According to Shorewood police, officers were patrolling the area of Mound Road near Forest View Drive when Giovanni Vazquez was arrested.

SHOREWOOD, IL — A Shorewood police officer on routine patrol arrested one of the village's residents after 32-year-old Giovanni Vazquez was driving his white-colored 1995 Toyota Supra 98 mph along Mound Road right near several subdivisions, an area with a posted speed limit of 40 mph, the arrest report showed.

The arrest happened at 7:43 p.m. Sunday at Westminster Lane and West Prairiewood Lane, not far from where Vazquez resides, the 21300 block of Westminster Lane.

Vazquez has been charged with the traffic crime of speeding more than 35 mph over the posted speed limit.

According to Shorewood police, an officer patrolling the area of Mound Road near Forest View Drive spotted Vazquez's car traveling westbound on Mound Road at a high rate of speed. The officer activated the moving radar, and it displayed a speed of 98 MPH in a posted 40 MPH zone.

Officers performed a traffic stop and explained the reason for the stop. Officers approached the vehicle and requested Vasquez to exit the vehicle and placed him under arrest. The 32-year-old Shorewood motorist was given citations with information on his Will County court dates.
