The Timbers of Shorewood made a significant difference in our community this year, primarily by acting as a vital hub for local engagement, education, and charitable giving. They didn't just serve their residents; they opened their doors to the greater Shorewood area, hosting numerous public events that benefited the community. For example, the annual Fall Craft Fair and the Summer Craft Fair not only brought together local vendors but also served as crucial fundraisers, directly supporting causes like the Alzheimer's Association. Furthermore, their commitment to lifelong learning through the Timbers Academy for Seniors offered valuable education, helping older community members stay informed and intellectually engaged—most recently with a course challenging health misinformation. For me, or those I know with family there, knowing The Timbers was recognized as the 'Best Senior Care Community in Will County' means they consistently provide a high quality of care, which offers genuine peace of mind and contributes positively to the overall well-being of our aging population."

What would you like everyone in town to know about your nominee?

What I would like everyone in town to know is that The Timbers of Shorewood is far more than just a senior living community. Timbers is a dedicated local partner. First, they deserve recognition for their excellence in care. They have repeatedly been voted the 'Best Senior Care Community in Will County' and received the 'Best Independent Living Award' from U.S. News & World Report. This means we have a truly outstanding resource right here in town, providing dignity and high-quality living to our seniors. Second, the town should know how much they give back. The Timbers regularly opens its doors to the public, hosting events like the Hippity-Hop Easter Egg Hunt, which is always free and open to the public. This year the Timbers raised $16,000 for the Alzheimer's Association and $2,000 for Pink Heals during breast cancer awareness month.

If you could tell them one thing, what would it be?

Keep up the great work caring for our seniors and being a community partner.
