Death Ruled Suicide for Shorewood Man Hit by CTA Train in Oak Park

The death of a man killed Dec. 1 by a CTA Blue Line train in Oak Park has been ruled a suicide by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Emergency personnel were called after 6 p.m. to the Austin station, where Matt Cepela, 24, of the 300 block of Harvard in Shorewood, was found dead at the scene.

He was pronounced at 8:30 p.m. Cepela suffered multiple injuries from the train strike, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Police told the Wednesday Journal they don’t suspect foul play.
