Semi Crash Near 80-55 Interchange Snarls Traffic For Hours: Police

The semi lost control and hit a passenger car, causing the truck to veer left, strike a temporary construction barrier wall and roll over.

SHOREWOOD, IL — A jackknifed semitrailer snarled traffic for hours Sunday near the interchange of interstates 80 and 55, according to state police.

The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 80 in Shorewood, police said.

The semi lost control and hit a passenger car, causing the truck to veer left, strike a temporary construction barrier wall and roll over, blocking both eastbound lanes of traffic, according to police.

The westbound left lane of the interstate was temporarily closed but reopened at about 1:30 p.m., police said.

No injuries were reported, according to police.
