Getting Rowdy at the Rodeo

Deputies had their hands full at the Briggs Street rodeo and carted one man off to jail, police said.

The jailed man — 20-year-old Ryan Wilkinson of Joliet — grabbed a woman’s breasts with both hands as she was leaving the rodeo July 19, police said. The 29-year-old woman reportedly did not know Wilkinson at all before he grabbed her breasts.

Wilkinson was charged with battery and later released on his own recognizance.

Earlier that same evening, a 22-year-old woman from Chicago told deputies a car pulled up on her vehicle as she was trying to leave the rodeo. Four women got out and tried picking a fight with her but she escaped without injury.

About a half hour later, a woman told police a man grabbed her window-mounted American flag and broke it off her vehicle. The man took the flag back to his own vehicle and drove away.

The flag-stealer, much like the alleged breast-grabber, was a complete stranger to the woman he had menaced.
