Joliet Man -- With Help From Mom and Bro -- Viciously Beat Pregnant Teen Stricken With Cerebral Palsy: Petition

The wanted mother and her ex-con sons are all "self-employed" drug dealers whose work hours "vary," the teen said.

A Joliet man got some help from his mother and brother when he viciously beat a pregnant teenager stricken with cerebral palsy and epilepsy, according to court filings.

Maria Ortiz, 48, and her sons — Jose Gonzalez, 28, and Matthew Gonzalez, 21 — are all wanted on aggravated battery charges in connection with the alleged attack.

A pregnant 19 year old said Matthew Gonzalez, also identified by police as Matthew Gonzales, assaulted her while she was at his Preston Heights home last week.

“He punched me in the nose and I hit the room door, and then he started punching my stomach because I am pregnant by his cousin,” she said in a petition for a protective order.

“He also punched me on the mouth, busting my lip and tearing the inside of my mouth,” the teen said. “I blacked out for a few seconds. I slowly got up because I was feeling dizzy and called 911. Then his mother and brother blocked me from getting out of the house.”

Matthew Gonzalez threatened to “kill me with a gun and my family if I call the police because he is on parole for drugs and a domestic,” she said, telling how he then snatched her purse and ran off.

Matthew Gonzalez is on parole but only for the manufacture or delivery of cocaine. Jose Gonzalez is also on parole after serving prison time for attempted aggravated battery with a firearm. Their mother pleaded guilty to the manufacture or delivery of cocaine in February 2011. She was sentenced to probation.

After she was beaten, the teen suffered a seizure, her petition said. She was taken by ambulance to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. Matthew Gonzalez called her while she was at the the hospital, she said, but she did not answer her phone.

During the attack, Jose Gonzalez punched her in the back of the head, she said.

“He said he had a gun and he would go get it,” she said. “He also said I was a miserable ass cripple bitch.”

The teen said Ortiz pulled her hair.

“She threatened me that she would kill me if I called the police because not her or her children are not going back to prison,” she said of Ortiz, whom she noted can be recognized by her “buck teeth.”

The teen said she is afraid Ortiz or either of the Gonzalezes might kill her or send a Latin King to do the job. She claimed Matthew Gonzalez is a Latin King himself. She also said Ortiz is a “self-employed drug dealer,” as are her two sons. She said their work hours “vary.”
