Joliet Man Slashed Wife's Throat: Cops
The Joliet man was jailed on a charge of attempted murder.

A 50-year-old Joliet man allegedly slashed his wife’s throat Saturday night, then ran off and hid in a bush until the cops caught him.
Arthur Unger was charged with attempted murder, aggravated domestic battery, possessing a firearm as a felon, violating a court order, and causing a child to be endangered.
Unger slashed his 38-year-old wife’s throat at a house on Plainfield Road shortly before 8:30 p.m., police said. He then allegedly ran off and managed to put some distance between himself and pursuing family members. The relatives reportedly lost sight of Unger near the corner of Ruby and Raub streets.

Officers searched the area for Unger and found him hiding in a bush on Clement Street, police said.
The wounded wife was rushed to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center where she underwent surgery.
