Man Charged with Serial Car Vandalism Says Victim Was Never His Girlfriend
The Joliet man said he may —or may not — have vandalized the young woman's car.

A Joliet man allegedly caught on surveillance video vandalizing a woman’s car on three separate occasions denied ever having a romantic relationship with the young lady.
“We were never together,” said Joseph Baker, 23.
When asked if he did in fact admit to police that he vandalized the woman’s Chevy Cobalt, Baker said, “That may or may not be true but the rest is false information.”

The police identified the 23-year-old woman as Baker’s ex-girlfriend, but Baker said that is not the case.
Baker claimed that the woman’s boyfriend attacked him at a Denny’s about a month ago.

“Her boyfriend tried to kick my ass at Denny’s,” said Baker, telling how he turned the tables on the boyfriend and gave him a beating instead.
The boyfriend in turn vandalized Baker’s car, Baker said. The police investigated but due to a lack of evidence brought no charges, he explained.
“The cops never did anything so I took it into my own hands,” he said.
