New Shorewood Restaurant Reveals Menu, Opening Date

SHOREWOOD, IL — Troy Johnson has announced that his new West 52 BBQ restaurant, offering dine-in, carryout and eventual delivery service, will open for business next Wednesday, Oct. 4.

West 52 BBQ fills the vacancy at the original Casa Maya restaurant along Jefferson Street in Shorewood.

"Upon receiving my village of Shorewood business license after fulfilling said requirement for occupancy, we will begin serving, October 4, 2023, at 11 a.m. promptly," Johnson posted on Facebook Wednesday night. "Over the next week, I will be conducting staff meetings and outlining standard operating procedures, instituting DoorDash and acquire all the ingredients necessary to make great experiences for you all."

West 52 BBQ is in the Park Place Plaza, and the address is 805 West Jefferson St. From 2019 through August, Johnson ran Country Blaze BBQ restaurant in Channahon along Route 6 near Ridge Road. He closed that restaurant at the end of August when his lease expired, and announced plans to reopen in Shorewood, now calling it West 52 BBQ, since he's located along U.S. 52.

According to Johnson's Facebook announcement, West 52 BBQ will be closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and open on Wednesday through Saturday.

From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., the menu will feature:

• 1/2 Slab of Baby Back Ribs
• Rib Tips
• Pulled Pork
• Beef Brisket
• Smoked Cheeseburgers
• Smoked Chicken
• Chicken Nuggets
  Chicken Sandwich
• Chicken Wings
• Catfish Nuggets
• Mac N Cheese
• Collard Greens
• Baked Beans
• Cole Slaw
• Potato Salad

The Late Night Menu will be offered on Friday and Saturday, from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. and it will offer:

• 2lb Bucket of Rib Tips
• 2lb Bucket of Chicken Nuggets
• Featuring the Big Huey, 1 lb Pulled Pork over Fries topped with cheese.

All orders are served with fries and sauce on the side. Sauce on must be requested.

Johnson wants everyone to know that "West 52 BBQ is a made to order establishment. Therefore each order will be fulfilled within a 15-minute timeframe. Whether it is call in, carryout, dine in or delivery; DoorDash and Uber Eats are in the setup stage and will be utilized upon training of personnel."
