A police dog reportedly tracked down a teenage car burglar but his young partner-in-crime escaped early Wednesday.

The police said they know the identity of the fugitive thief and expect to have him in custody before long.

The cops got a call about two hooded youths checking the door handles of cars parked on Douglas Street near Springfield Avenue about 2:30 a.m., police said. Officers sent to the scene found the pair, with one of them actually inside a vehicle, police said.
