A fourth grade student at Trinity Christian School in Shorewood recently served as WGN TV’s Friday Forecaster.

Nathan Volpe appeared with meteorologist Morgan Kolkmeyer as WGN TV’s Friday Forecaster on March 4.

According to the WGN website, the Friday Forecasters are students that attend schools in the Earth Networks. They are selected “because they show exemplary work in the classroom,” the website also said.

When interviewed by Kolkmeyer, Nathan said he aspires to be a Navy SEAL when he grows up, having been inspired by a school chapel honoring American heroes.

Trinity Christian School has been a part of the Earth Networks since 2015, when, in memory of Melvin "Mel" and Betty Rull of Joliet, a "Weatherbug" weather station was installed on the roof of the school.
