• 82 Cited, 5 Arrested During Fall Traffic Safety Campaign In Skokie (patch.com) — Skokie drivers are learning the cost of unsafe choices after a fall traffic safety campaign led to 82 citations and five arrests between Oct. 24 and Nov. 3. Local police, working with statewide “Drive Sober” and “Drive High, Get a DUI” initiatives, focused on speeding, seat belts, distracted driving, and insurance violations to improve safety on village roads.
   

• Skokie lights Hanukkah menorah candles downtown, days after Australia shooting (chicagotribune.com) — Skokie neighbors recently gathered at Memorial Park’s Krier Plaza for a public Hanukkah menorah lighting led by Mayor Ann Tennes and Rabbi Yochanan Posner, with police providing security. The ceremony honored the holiday’s message of light and religious freedom while mourning victims of the Bondi Beach attack, and included family-friendly touches like latkes, sufganiyot, a fire dancer, and a gelt drop.
