Skokie Police Need More Neighborhood Watchdogs
Are you a member of your neighborhood's watch program?

SKOKIE, IL - To feel connected and foster community safety, Skokie police are asking residents to participate in the local Neighborhood Watch Program.
The nationwide initiative is among the most effective ways of preventing crimes, officials said in a local news alert soliciting participants. In it, block "captains" are tasked with developing a relationship with crime prevention and community relations officers assigned to their patrol areas. More than 169 blocks are part of the program in Skokie.
"By participating, residents are kept up to date on village ordinances, state laws, tips to prevent crime, and how to get to know your neighbors," the alert says. "Regular informative meetings are held by the Crime Prevention Division at the Skokie Police headquarters for Neighborhood Watch block captains to work
together and proactively address concerns in their neighborhood."
