Special Menus, Discounts On Offer During North Shore Restaurant Month

SKOKIE, IL — North Shore Restaurant Month heads into its final weekend with dining deals across the northern suburbs of Cook County.

Offers include special fixed-price menus, discounts on meals and free desserts or appetizers, according to organizers.

February is traditionally a challenging month for the restaurant industry, which has been exacerbated in recent years by restrictions associated with the coronavirus pandemic and historically high inflation.

More than 72,000 U.S. restaurants had shuttered as a result of the pandemic in 2020 alone, according to a Washington Post analysis. The Illinois Restaurant Association warned or more than 5,000 closures of eating and drinking establishments, while closure rates for restaurants in collar counties rose from 7.2 percent before pandemic to 12.3 percent by mid-2021, according to Crain's Chicago Business.

North Shore Restaurant Month is sponsored by the Chicago's North Shore Convention & Visitors Bureau, a Skokie-based tourism nonprofit financed by taxpayers in participating suburban municipalities.
