West Rogers Park Gas Station Sells $1 Million Winning Lotto Ticket

CHICAGO — A West Rogers Park gas station is set to receive a $10,000 bonus after selling winning lotto ticket last weekend.

Someone purchased a $1 million winning Lotto Million 1 ticket from the Arco gas station at 2758 W. Peterson Avenue on Saturday, matching all six numbers in that day's drawing, lottery officials announced.

“The news that we sold a $1 million winning Lotto ticket came just after one of our regular customers won $10,000 on a scratch-off ticket right here in front of me,” said gas station owner Jackpaul Singh.

“I can’t believe we’ve had two big winners in the past week," he said. "I don’t know if it’s good karma or luck, but I look forward to seeing more winners walk through our doors!”

So far in 2024, nine purchasers of Illinois Lottery tickets have won prizes of $1 million or greater, prior to taxes.

The winner has one year from the July 6 drawing to claim their prize.

“I’m not sure who it could be — but I’m definitely curious," the gas station owner said. "I want them to come in and tell us so we can celebrate with them. I can’t wait to see the look of joy on their face."

Singh said he grew up in the West Rogers Park neighborhood before purchasing the gas station at the corner of Peterson and California avenues.

“I used to stop at this store and buy candy on my way to school. As soon as I saw the store was listed for sale a few years ago, I jumped at the opportunity to buy it,” he said.

“I’ve always loved this store and business couldn’t be better. The neighborhood is super diverse, very family-oriented, and has blessed us with an amazing, supportive customer base.”
