A prayer vigil is planned for 5 p.m. Monday, May 27, at the church, 10858 S. Michigan Ave. (109th Street and Michigan Avenue), Chicago.

In a Facebook post, the church maintained that on April 19, Kayla Flowers allowed her baby son to spend the week with his father. Several days later, on April 26, Kayson was returned to his mother by his father in an infant car seat-stroller.

Flowers alleges she was told by the Kayson’s father that he was asleep. A few hours later, Flowers uncovered her son and found Kayson black and blue and unresponsive.

Chicago police were summoned to the 200 block of West 106th Street for a report of an unresponsive infant. Kayson was rushed to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

An autopsy by the Cook County Medical Center revealed that Kayson’s death was a homicide. Detectives stated that Kayson had been dead for six to eight hours before being returned.

“We, the family and friends of Kayson Flowers, along with Roseland Christian Ministries, are calling on our community and beyond to demand justice for this precious baby,” the church said.

Roseland Christian Ministries is urging anyone with information about the death of baby Kayson Flowers to call the Chicago Police Department’s anonymous tip line numbers, 833-408-0069 or 312-746-7330; or text CPDTIP to receive a link to an anonymous tip form.
