Shots Fired on the Dan Ryan - Again

No one was hit but the outbound lanes were closed until 3 a.m.

A vehicle was hit by a bullet when shots were fired on the Dan Ryan Expressway early Monday, just before 2 a.m., near Garfield Boulevard. No one was hurt. Illinois State Police walked the outbound lanes of the Dan Ryan looking for evidence, but all lanes were open to traffic by 3 a.m. Two people were in the vehicle when someone inside a passing vehicle fired the shots.

Three people were shot in June 2015 on the Dan Ryan, and shots were again fired on the Dan Ryan in August. These were among a spate of Chicago-area expressway shootings last summer, which prompted an increased State Police presence on the highways.
