Woman Charged In Drowning Death Of 1-Year-Old Boy Near South Shore Beach
A South Side woman charged in the drowning death of a 1-year-old boy near South Shore Beach is set for a court hearing Monday afternoon.

CHICAGO — A South Side woman is accused of drowning a 1-year-old boy in Lake Michigan. Surah Amon, 31, is due to appear for a pre-trial detention hearing Monday at the Leighton Criminal Court Building.
Just before 10 p.m. Friday, Chicago police were answered a service call for the 7000 block of South Shore Drive, near South Shore Beach. When officers arrived, they found a woman, later identified as Amon, in the water, police said.
Further investigation revealed that she had drowned a 1-year-old boy, who was found nearby in the water, police said.
