1,609 Items Checked Out On Day Of Tinley Park Library Reopening
'A community of readers' were eager to get back inside the library after a four-month closure.

TINLEY PARK, IL — Employees of the Tinley Park Public Library were busy on their reopening day, checking out or renewing 1,609 items in the three hours they were open on July 19. Library staff called Tinley Park "a community of readers" in noticing the high demand for their services on day one.
"The library was especially grateful that everyone wore a face covering and adhered to social distancing guidelines while inside the building," staff said in a statement.
Patrons are now allowed inside the library building at 7851 Timber Drive for the first time since March, but must wear either a mask or other face covering and follow social distance measures that require everyone to be six feet apart. The library is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and from 1-4 p.m. on Sundays. Curbside pickup remains available for patrons who make holds online.
