12 Fall Ill In Heat At Tinley Ribfest: Village
About a dozen people experienced heat-related health issues Thursday at the fest's first day, Village Manager Pat Carr said.
TINLEY PARK, IL — Several attendees at Tinley Park's Ribfest Thursday experienced medical issues due to the heat, Village Manager Pat Carr told Patch.
Twelve people reported feeling faint and other heat-related symptoms, Carr said. Tinley Park Fire was called, and all affected have been treated on-site, Carr said. None required transport for treatment elsewhere, he added.
Carr called the crowd an "unbelievable amount of people" in the first day of the four-day fest, estimating that 30,000 attended. The fest runs through Sunday, in the north parking lot at the 80th Avenue train station, 18001 S. 80th Ave.
