Alleged Drunk Driver Cruises the Sidewalk: Police Blotter

FRIDAY, FEB. 8
My TV is Missing, But Don't Dust for Prints
Police were called to an apartment in the 16700 block of S. Gentry Lane, after a resident reported a burglary.
A woman returned home from work to find her television missing from her bedroom.

Police secured the apartment and then spoke with the victim, who said she did not want an evidence technician to come to the home and dust for prints. Officers noticed no signs of forced entry to the apartment.
Shake and Busted
Thomas Sheehy, 46, of the 7400 block of W. 162nd Place, was charged with domestic battery, after allegedly grabbing a woman by the collar and shaking her.

A woman was coming home from dinner with Sheehy when they began to argue, she told police. She exited the car when they arrived at the home and Sheehy followed.
The victim said Sheehy grabbed her by the collar of her coat and began shaking her, yelling, "Stop doing this." The witness who called police told the same story.
Police called Sheehy, asking him to return to the residence to relay his side of the story and he told officers he did not want to return and would turn himself in at the police station.
At the station, Sheey was taken into custody and placed in a holding cell to await transport to the Cook County Courthouse.
Fake Check at TJMaxx
An investigator from The Marmaxx Group came to the Tinley Park Police Station to report the use of a fraudulent check at TJMaxx,16025 S. Harlem Avenue.
The investigator told officers that a suspect used a fake check to purchase $1,652.84 worth of items, before sales tax. The investigator said the suspect used similar fake checks at stores in Homewood, Calumet City, Berwyn and Oak Brook.
The investigator told officers that the Homewood police informed him to file police reports in all towns where the crimes occurred.
THURSDAY, FEB. 7
Phony Fifties
Police were called to Sam's Club, 16100 S. Harlem Avenue, an employee found 12 fraudulent $50 bills in the register.
The manager told police there was surveillance footage of a suspect paying a $640.47 credit card balance at the customer service desk from the day before, however the video was so poor it was unusable. The manager did say that the although the video was of poor quality, he believed the customer in question was the one who passed the fake bills.
Police notified the Secret Service Counterfeit Squad, who advised officers that should anyone be taken into custody they would come to the police station.
Sidewalk Drunk Driving
Heather N. Anderson, 26, of the 4600 block of W. 107th Street, Oak Lawn, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, no headlights when required, improper lane usage and BAC over .08, after police pulled her over at the intersection of Oak Park Avenue and Hickory Street.
Officers witnessed Anderson drive over a curb and drive onto the sidewalk, nearly striking a lightpole, on Oak Park Avenue, according to the report. Police immediately made a u-turn and curbed Anderson.
Officers noticed a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on her breath and she told officers she had two doubles before driving, according to the report.
Anderson failed field sobriety tests. She was taken to the Tinley Park Police Station, where she blew a . 213.
Anderson was charged and released on bond, pending a Feb. 25 court date at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
