Robert E. "Bob" Wilkerson, 71, of Tinley Park, IL, passed away peacefully at home on March 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a two-and-a-half year battle with cancer.

Born on December 16, 1953 to William “Bill” H. Wilkerson and Vera Nosalova Wilkerson, Bob was a graduate of Harold L. Richards High School in Oak Lawn and following graduation, dedicated 40 years of his life to law enforcement, including serving as a Bolingbrook police officer and special investigator. He took great pride in serving his community, and over the years, he collected a wealth of fascinating stories from his time on the force. Whether it was a thrilling case, an amusing encounter, or a lesson learned on the job, Bob loved sharing these stories, always delivering them with his signature wit and humor. He married Donna Gayle Shilney in 1981 and they were married for 44 years until his death.

Bob enjoyed his retirement as a Corvette aficionado, took pride in raising English bulldogs and above all, relished spending time with his beloved grandchildren, who were the greatest treasures in his life. Whether he was playing dolls, teaching them how to ride a bike, or showing them the ins and outs of home repairs, he poured his love into every moment they spent together. His patience, wisdom, and playful spirit made him a cherished grandfather and mentor.

In lieu of flowers, tune-up your car and check the air pressure in your tires—he would have wanted that.
