Car Stolen, Shots Fired At Victim By Offenders In Tinley Park:Police

Police say that shots were fired twice at a local resident who had their Land Rover stolen before the offenders fled the area.

TINLEY PARK, IL — Tinley Park Police are working with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office after shots were fired at a person whose car was stolen early Thursday morning.

Tinley Park Police were called to the area of 167th Street and Gentry at 4:15 a.m. for reports of shots being fired in the area. Officers were met by Cook County deputies who police said were already investigating the report of a vehicle being stolen, police said.

Police said that the resident whose car was stolen began chasing after the offenders who then fired shots at the victim near Kimberly Heights School and again near 167th and Gentry before fleeing the area in a Land Rover, which was previously reported stolen, police said.

No one was injured and police said there is no threat to residents as the offenders had already fled from the scene after the scene after shots were fired, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call the Tinley Park Police Department’s non-emergency number at (708) 532-9111.
