Comic Market And Cosplay Contest Back At Tinley Park Brewery

TINLEY PARK, IL — Comic and cosplay fans, this one's for you.

The second Comic Market and Cosplay Contest will be held Aug. 19 at Soundgrowler Brewing, 8201 183rd St Suite P. in Tinley Park, from 12 to 4 p.m. The afternoon will feature delicious tacos, comic artists and cosplayers, with plenty of other makers and artists to check out.

Organized by the Streetz Artz Alliance, the event includes some things that you would see at a pop culture and comic convention like Perler art, druid-like jewelry, cosplay accessories, comics and toys resellers, POP figurines and the like. In addition, some alliance regulars will be onsite selling their handmade bread, tumblers, resin art and apparel. And Tarot by Ptah will be available to read tarot.

The event is curated and organized by the Streetz Artz Alliance. The alliance is a group of artists from the Chicagoland area that advocate for small businesses and breweries. With over 350 members and 55 markets scheduled for 2023, the aim is to bring handmade items of high-quality artisanship with a different mix of artists at every show.

The Aug. 19 event includes a cosplay contest open to patrons. Anyone interested can sign up that day with name/handle, characters/cosplay and any information you would like to share with the judges. Prizes are awarded to the top three, and a brewery favorite will also be chosen. All are welcome to join the contest, kicking off at 3 p.m. Judges will include Soundgrowler Brewing, Faceless Cosplay, DCWBuilds and Power Metal Cosplay.

"If you missed out on Fan Expo Chicago at the Rosemont Convention Center last weekend and want to experience a more intimate Comics and Cosplay Market, this event is for you," wrote organizer John Streetz.

The event is free to attend, with plenty of parking. All ages are welcome.
