Cooling Centers Available In Tinley Park: Village

As intense heat lingers in the area, Tinley Park officials remind residents there are spots for relief in town.

TINLEY PARK, IL — As intense heat and high heat indices hover over the area, Tinley Park officials remind residents of cooling centers as resources for those in need of relief.

The Tinley Park Senior Center, 17355 S. 68th Court, is designated as a cooling center, along with the Tinley Park Police Department, 7850 W. 183rd St.

Both cooling centers are open as needed. Residents are advised to call ahead at (708) 444-5300 to make sure the centers are open.

Heat exhaustion and heat stroke are two of the biggest concerns with high temperatures. High temperatures and humidity can lead to dehydration, heat exhaustion or heat stroke. The risk is higher for the elderly or those with preexisting health conditions.

Health officials urge people to limit strenuous outdoor activities, check on elderly and disabled relatives, friends and neighbors and wear loose-fitting clothing.
