Crisis Center Honored As Outstanding Tinley Park Business
The Crisis Center of South Suburbia hopes the award will raise awareness of the non-profit's services and also drive needed donations.

TINLEY PARK, IL —The Crisis Center for South Suburbia was chosen for the Outstanding Chamber Business Award by Tinley Park's Chamber of Commerce, officials from the center told Patch.
The center has been a non-profit in the area for over 40 years. Its mission is to provide services to survivors of domestic violence and educate others to prevent domestic abuse.
"It's a safe place where clients can heal from the trauma they have endured and know someone cares about them," said Lorri Nagle, director of development.

According to Nagle, the shelter is one of only 17 emergency shelters in the state. The non-profit has seen an uptick in clients seeking shelter and services since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nagle said.
Due to the rise in demand for services, a representative said the organization is working to expand the amount of available shelters this summer. Currently, 12-15 households can stay in longterm shelter with the center.

Nagle said she hopes the award will increase awareness about the non-profits services and hopefully drive donations as well. All donations to the shelter up to $65,000 are now being matched by the Greer Foundation.
In addition to housing, CCSS provides counseling, advocacy services in court, hospital visits and school education talks.
