Discount Outdoors Retailer Sierra Set To Open Tinley Park Store

TINLEY PARK, IL — A new active, outdoors and lifestyle brands retailer is set to expand its presence in Illinois, with a new location to open in Tinley Park.

Sierra, a multichannel off-price retailer of active and outdoor brands, will open in Tinley Park Saturday, August 24, at 7360 191st St. in Brookside Marketplace. The 17,000-sq. ft. store marks the eighth location in the state and sixth in the Chicago area.

As part of the T.J. Maxx family of brands, Sierra is described as the go-to retailer for discovering great finds from top active and outdoor brands for the entire family at amazing savings, the company said in a release. Products feature an array of apparel, footwear and gear, offered at up to 60 percent less than department and specialty store prices.

"Sierra is a one-stop-shop for everything you didn’t even know you needed to help you get active year round," the company said.

Sierra will open its doors to the local community with a grand opening celebration Aug. 24 at 8: a.m., including music from a local DJ, lucky ticket giveaways, Sierra-branded giveaways, and more! Tinley Park residents can shop Sierra’s essentials in apparel, footwear, gear, and home décor. Founded in 1986, Sierra has 103 stores in 30 states.

In celebration of its arrival in the Tinley Park community, Sierra has made a $10,000 donation to nonprofit organization Crisis Center for South Suburbia. The donation will support the organization’s mission of domestic violence prevention, from housing, counseling, advocacy, outreach and prevention programs to providing social justice for survivors and implementing systemic changes throughout the community so they can fully access their legal and social rights.
