Do or Die: Magnuson's Olympic Life Hangs in Balance
Tinley Park native Christine Magnuson competes tonight in the 50-meter freestyle. It's her last of three races in the U.S. Olympic Swimming time trials.

Tonight, the 26-year-old native competes against 141 others for a spot on the U.S. Summer Olympics 50-meter freestyle team. Heats will be televised on NBC from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. and finals, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Magnuson has been placed in the 14th of 16 heats for a chance at semifinals, according to USA Swimming. Her qualifying time was 25.06 seconds.

Though she didn't get a slot in a finals race Saturday, Magnuson placed high on a long list of swimmers who competed in the 100-meter freestyle. With a time of 55.73 seconds, she ranked 22 among 131.
Depending on how she fares in Sunday's race, she may swim one last time in trials Monday night from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
