TINLEY PARK, IL — The consolidated election is set for April 1, with early voting underway and wrapping up March 31.

Three spots are up for grabs on the Tinley Park-Park District Board of Commissioners, with six candidates jockeying for the seats. Candidates align with slates led either by incumbent Mayor Michael Glotz, or challenger Michael Maloney.

Running under Glotz's One Tinley Park slate are Lisa Butler, Donald Sachnoff, and David J. Viglielmo

Ensuring that Tinley Park’s recreational facilities continue to meet the needs of families, improving accessibility to programs, and maintaining financial responsibility. I intend to address these by working collaboratively with residents, prioritizing smart budgeting, and advocating for enhancements that serve all ages and abilities.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I have lived in Tinley Park for over 30 years and have firsthand experience raising a family here. My background in finance equips me with the skills needed to manage budgets efficiently, while my involvement in coaching has kept me closely connected to the needs of local families and youth.

If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)?

I am an incumbent park district commissioner

Expanding recreational opportunities for residents of all ages

Ensuring fiscal responsibility while maintaining high-quality park district services
Strengthening community input and transparency in decision-making
Supporting the upkeep and enhancement of parks and facilities

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

My experience in financial management ensures I can make responsible budgetary decisions, along with my experience serving as a park district commissioner gives me a unique insight into our park district. Additionally, my leadership as a coach demonstrates my commitment to fostering strong community programs that positively impact families.

Why should voters trust you?

I have spent decades investing in this community, both professionally and personally. My dedication to Tinley Park’s families, combined with my financial expertise and history of volunteerism, shows that I have the skills and passion to serve responsibly.

If you win this position, what accomplishment would make your term in office as a success?

Expanding and improving recreational opportunities for all residents while maintaining a fiscally responsible budget. Success would mean ensuring our park district continues to be a source of pride for the community.

What are your views on fiscal policy, government spending and the handling of taxpayer dollars in the office you are seeking?

Taxpayer dollars should be managed with accountability and transparency. I will work to ensure that every dollar is spent wisely, maximizing benefits for the community while avoiding unnecessary costs.

What are your thoughts on the crime rate in your community, and what more can be done to combat crime — especially violent crime — in town?

Public safety is essential for a thriving community. While law enforcement plays a key role, recreational programs and community engagement can also help deter crime.

What is your view of the Village's approach to commercial and residential development?

Development should be carefully planned to maintain Tinley Park’s character while supporting economic growth. Ensuring access to parks and recreational facilities should be a priority in any development plan.

When it comes to development, what are some key areas for improvement or additions you feel are most wanted by residents? What will need to be done to make this happen?

Residents value well-maintained parks, expanded recreational facilities, and accessible programming for all ages. This requires strategic planning, securing appropriate funding, and ensuring community input in decision-making.

Is there any reason you would not serve your full term of office, other than those of health or family?

No.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I take great pride in being a longtime resident of Tinley Park and serving our citizens as a Park District Commissioner, and I understand what makes this community special. I believe in responsible leadership, open communication, and working together. I am dedicated to ensuring our parks and recreational programs continue to enrich the lives of residents.
