After 5 years of blogging and chronicling my early years of motherhood in my new town at TinleyParkMom.com, THE companion for Chicagoland parents gave me the honor of writing a Guide to Visiting Tinley Park with Kids, as it is titled—the distillation of 5 years of trial and error, fun and flubs exploring the bounds of zipcodes 60487 and 60477.

Short Snippet

No matter what type of adventure you’re looking for, Tinley Park has it down to a “T.” The community known as a historically key junction point for train and road travel celebrates 130 years this year. I’ve explored every nook and cranny of the community for my blog, Tinley Park Mom, and always marvel at the treasures I find. So here are just some activities kids enjoy, food options that families will appreciate and places to keep the entire family engaged.

What makes my guide unique is the fact that I am a perfect outsider with an objective lens: born abroad, grew up on the north side, had never heard of Tinley until I met my husband. It also helps that I am a mother of a young child, so I very much don't have an agenda or bias to laud one places over another.

For the newbies to this part of the country, region, or state—the Chicago Southland as is becoming a more popular way of referring to the area southwest of Downtown Chicago, is definitely more written about and known compared to when I moved here in February 2014. It's been really interesting to me to withness this shift and all the exciting new developments taking place across the area. And I hope this guide saves you time, money, and guessing—and get's you started on the path to falling in love and going on adventures across every neighboring town down here.
