Father Was Ambushed, Fatally Shot Outside Hillcrest HS: Cops
The shooting during a junior high boys' basketball tournament at the school. The victim was walking with his son, police said.
COUNTRY CLUB HILLS, IL — Police on Sunday released additional details on a fatal shooting called a targeted attack outside Hillcrest High School Saturday afternoon.
Police said the victim, who has not yet been identified, was walking out of the high school gym with his juvenile son around 1:09 p.m., when he was confronted by a car full of armed suspects. The suspects had been lying in wait, police said, inside a black, four-door Infiniti Q50. As the victim approached, the suspects blocked his path to his vehicle, police said. The suspects then got out of the car with weapons drawn, opening fire on the victim.
The suspects then fled southbound toward Pulaski Road, police said. The victim's son, a juvenile, was not injured, police said.

The victim was taken to Advocate South Suburban Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time,” the department said.
Bremen District 228 issued a statement on the incident.
"Our deepest condolences go out to the family, loved ones, and all those affected by this heartbreaking event," Bremen District 228 Administration wrote in a statement. "The incident is currently under investigation, and we are fully cooperating with law enforcement."
